  • PAT Testing

Portable Appliance Testing or PAT Testing is the process of checking electrical appliances for safety through a series of visual inspections and electronic tests. The best way of ensuring that your appliances are safe is to have a PAT test carried out on them.

PAT testing will only be carried out by our best electricians who have the necessary knowledge, skill and experience needed to avoid danger to themselves and others.

Upon completion of the portable appliance inspection and testing you will receive a report that details the following:

    • An inventory containing each appliance type, name, location and description
    • A full set of test results for each appliance tested
    • A full list of any failed items with an explanation of their failure
    • A visible pass or fail label on each appliance detailing the inspection date, next test due and the inspector’s signature.

    Portable Appliance Testing London

Portable appliance testing (PAT Testing) is an important aspect of every Health & Safety Policy. According to the Health & Safety Executive (HSE), 25% of all reported electrical accidents involve portable appliances.

Employers and their employees and the self-employed are required to adhere to The Electricity at Work Regulations and must take reasonably practicable steps to reduce the risk of danger when using any electrical equipment. This calls for regular maintenance, inspection and testing of portable electrical appliances. Under the Health & Safety at Work Act (1974) where appliances are used by employees or the public or are hired, supplied, serviced or repaired, they must be tested to ensure that they are safe for use. This also covers the appliances used by any remote or home workers that you employ as well as agency workers and sub contractors.

How often portable appliance testing takes place depends on the type of appliance and the level of risk it carries as well as how and where it is used. The Institution of Electrical Engineers (IEE) has published its Code of Practice for In-service Inspection and Testing of Electrical Equipment which forms the basis of UK portable appliance testing.

The work was carried out efficiently and effectively. The workmen came on time and worked hard each day they were here. The manager was always helpful in planning each stage of the work in what became quite a complex project.
